Groundhog Day traditions

  • Predicting if Winter is Over

    Every year, Punxsutawney Phil is brought out of his burrow. If he casts a shadow, then there will be six more weeks of winter.

  • Eating a Special Breakfast

    This typically includes some combination of pancakes, eggs, bacon, sausage, and hot chocolate.

  • Participating in Parades and Festivities

    Some attend carnivals, parades, and even ice carving competitions.
